Fly Fishing Information

fly fishing for bass, crappie, blue gill, redfish, tarpon, trout   We are so blessed to be living in Florida. The overwhelming amount of fly fishing opportunities available to us in Central Florida would keep a fly fisherman busy for life and he would never have to fish the same thing twice. With ample water in Orlando and Kissimmee with the chains and smaller lakes, and all the exciting saltwater fly-fishing available on the east coast in Titusville, Cocoa and Indian River along with Sebastian and Vero Beach fly fishing is abundant. We offer Guided Fly Fishing trips to any of the destinations we fish.

If you are interested in booking a fly fishing trip with us, we can take you anywhere we use standard fishing techniques and catch any of the species for that area. Fly Fishing in Florida is a great opportunity to really experience Florida's beauty, and natural resources. I personally love fly fishing as it is more of a way to really enjoy the pure act of fishing and find some personal satisfaction.

When you book a fly fishing trip with us, we do provide all the tackle, however if you are a seasoned fly fisherman, we will recommend you bring your fly rod. We have really nice fly rods from Bass Pro Shops and Shimano reels however we have found with most of our fly fishing clients, they would rather use their own flies and their own rods.

Depending on where we go, and what we are fishing for, generally a fly rod in the six to eight weight is enough rod. If we are going after Tarpon, we usually will recommend a nine to twelve weight rod. We will provide the tippet, and the flies but again if you are tying your own flies and would like to bring them down to try out on some of Florida's species, you are welcome to do so.

below is information on the different types of fish in the different areas, and what you can expect to catch fly fishing with us.

Freshwater Fly Fishing

Freshwater Fly Fishing in Orlando, Kissimmee and the Central Florida area can be really exciting. Largemouth bass are really eager to please even the most novice fly fisherman because this is not a customary presentation to them. most Bass Fishermen use standard tackle, and the fish do not get to see the flies often enough to make them as wary of it. From Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Crappie and Bream, there is no limit to what you can catch with a fly rod. Peacock Bass are also another species that is a great deal of fun on a fly rod.

We recommend for freshwater to bring a five to eight weight fly rod. although the Crappie and Bream will not put up to much fight on an eight weight rod, you have to be ready for the large bass to take a sample of your offering and it helps to have something you can put on it to turn it out of the grass.

The best method, and flies in general for freshwater fly fishing in Florida is poppers, small deceivers, and streamers. Our freshwater fish typically eat other fish, and not to much on bugs. Floating line is usually preferred. For rates and locations, go to our Bass Fishing Rates page. If you have questions about fly fishing for bass, crappie or bream, Contact us.

Saltwater Fly Fishing

I think that the flats and fly fishing go together like Fred and Ginger. While they are good alone, they are dynamite together. Flats fishing in East Central Florida with a fly rod is incredible. An average depth of two feet, and an abundant amount of water to wade in, hard sandy bottom and fish weighing as much as 30 to 50 pounds. Can you think of anything more fun than this?

Redfish Tailing Fishing the Flats with a Fly rod, we recommend a six to ten weight rod. here you can expect to catch Trout, and Ladyfish which can be a lot of fun, but then you also have your Snook, and Redfish which will give you a great fight, however the pinnacle of fish on the flats is the Tarpon.

Tarpon on the Flats. Tarpon on a Fly Rod on the flats. it is tough to find a better fight. Even thought these are usually juvenile tarpon, and they will range in size from ten to twenty five pounds, there is always a chance to catch one that will tip the scales at fifty plus pounds. This is when you want to make sure to have enough backing to play, because play he will.  This is what fishing is all about right here.

Check our Flats Fishing Rates Page for information regarding locations, and prices. If you have questions please feel free to Contact us.
